Let's Talk Weather

The weather in Cleveland this past week has been H.O.T. They were steady in the mid 90s for 4 days straight with high humidity. Unfortunately, when its this hot my creative mojo just disappears. All I feel like doing is sitting in front of the fan and watch a favorite show or read a good book (thanks to having no air conditioning in this old house). There was one good thing that came from the heat... the first water park trip of the year! I love lounging in the wave pool, people watching with my sunglasses on, and soaking up the sun.

During the heatwave I did get a little cross stitching done.
It's a Cath Kidston pincushion pattern. I love anything Cath Kidston and I can't wait to have a little pincushion to add to my supplies box :)

I'm happy to say the heat broke and I'm happily enjoying temps in the high 70s. Let's hope the creative bug bites again soon.
How has your first week of summer been?

  1. Love that cross stitch. My mom used to do cross stitch, but I've never tried. Here in Italy we're just getting through the first heatwave of the summer. It's been survivable inside with fans, but I've had to temporarily hang up my crochet hook and knitting needles. This weekend I'm trying to challenge myself to learn to use my sewing machine better!

ps. - your yorkie/maltese reminds me very much of the westie I grew up with!

  2. It was hot hot hot here on the east coast! We spend most of our days at the pool, beach or sprawled out on the couches watching the fan spin round! :) I love the pincushion pattern! The colors are so inviting! Glad the heat broke for y'all!

  3. I wish I could get creative when it gets hot, it was 114 here in AZ and I was just a slug......what part of Cleveland do you live in? I grew up in Parma! Great childhood! I just adore your blog and your creativity! Sandy @ 521 Lake Street

  4. We've had the tail end of the Sirocco winds which comes over from the Sahara desert. It doesn't usually last for more than a day or 2 but its extremely unpleasant, hot ,sticky and dusty...best thing like yourself is to soak in the swimming pool and if I could hold my breath for an hour or two I'd stay under the water.
Cross stitch ... love doing it too but bit of a problem with sight lately so have to put it to one side until I get new specs. Thats a lovely fresh pattern.

with 100% humidity. It just saps you of everything. When cool weather finally comes here, I feel renewed. Unfortunately, the cool weather will not be here until October...lol...seriously.

  11. This makes me want to get out my embroidery, but I promised myself I will finally finish the afghan that will never get done before starting another project. I'm about 2/3 the way done, so maybe someday. It's been in the upper 90's here in the south so thank goodness I'm just working with squares.

Your project is really pretty and I'm sure you will have a beautiful pincushion to enjoy when you are done. Have a great Thursday!
