Patchwork Crochet Blanket

I started this patchwork blanket around this time last year and finally finished it up last week.

It's a big blanket, it fits nicely on my full size bed. The pattern is from the wonderful Dottie Angel, t is called the Ordinarily Extraordinary Blanket. You can find the awesome tutorial here.

I used mainly Red Heart acrylic yarn for this project. I have to admit something, when I first finished the blanket I really did not like the combination of colors. It was even too bright and colorful for me, but then I put in on my bed and the colors softened and now I am completely smitten with it! One of my favorite finished blankets to date!

And of course Sophie is a fan :)

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! Lots of love! xoxo

Hexagons

After playing with some Red Heart Super Saver color combinations I started a new blanket this week!

It involves hexagons. My first ever blanket using hexagons and I am loving it! The pattern is from the book Crochet with Color available on Amazon.

You know what I'll be doing this weekend :) Hope you all have a fantastic first weekend of May!

Finished! Greengate Blanket

I'm on a roll with finishing projects lately! We won't talk about the one's I have started though :)

This one has to be my proudest finished projects. I can't believe I actually finished it. Way back in August when I started it, I said to myself why am I making this I'm never gonna finish it. But here you go in less than a year it is finally done and it's a whopper! It measures about 68 inches wide by 96 inches. Definitely the biggest thing I've ever crocheted and probably ever will. I am so in love with it and it fits so perfectly on my bed.

The pattern can be found here. It is in Swedish but with google translate and a little crochet knowledge its easy to figure out. Or to make it simple, it's just a series of straight double crochet rows and granny stripes, if you wanna make your own just mix them up.

Since we sadly can't get GreenGate products here in the US I dub this blanket my first ever GreenGate!

Hope you all have a fab weekend!

Finished Spring Blanket!

It's all finished!

I had lots of fun working with these colors, can't believe I actually used brown!

If you are looking for the pattern Sharron at Annie's Place was awesome and wrote up the pattern here!

Of course Sophie loves it. Back fresh from the groomers with a new toy and a funny feather in her hair.

Thrifty Blanket

Look what I found!!!
I had to share with you the cutest blanket that I found at the thrift shop today.
I couldn't resist it! I always have a weak spot for anything crochet at the thrift stores or estate sales.

Perfect size for napping and cuddling. Sophie loves it of course! I'm amazed how much work went into this beauty! It's quite big (fits on my full size bed) and is great condition (no holes or pills).

Thank you all for the sweet comments and support on my last post. I can't tell you how much each one meant to me!

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter!

Hot Water Bottle Cover

Happy New Year everyone! (Better late than never, right?)

Here's a little project I did before Christmas that I couldn't share with you until now because it was a gift for my mom.

Here it is... a hot water bottle cover!

The white cover is just something I made up using an unloved sweater, rick rack, and a button. The flower at the bottom is attic24's flower pattern. It was so much fun to make up, I definitely want to make more of them!

Did you notice the granny blanket in the background? It's a new one in progress! I have plans to post the pattern on my blog when it is done. I'm not sure it can even be called a pattern since it ridiculously simple :)

Granny Square Blanket Tah Dah!

I've been a bad little blogger lately. Around the Holidays I seem to be super busy with lots of fun things (as I'm sure all of you are) and don't have as much time for the computer.

Despite my lack of blogging here is a tah dah moment I am super excited about! I finished it so quick that there was no time for in progress pictures :)

It's a super simple granny square blanket. Each square is 7 rounds and the 4th and 7th round are always white. It is 6 squares wide and 7 squares long. The border is just double crochet with each color alternating with white. The border really did seem to take longer than the making of all the squares. I probably won't be doing that big of a border anytime soon.

Sophie approves!

Doesn't it look smashing with my new red gingham Ikea comforter!

There it is! Such a fun project and I'm in love with it :)
Hope you are all having a great week!

WIP: Patchwork Granny Blanket

I'm sure all of you have seen all of the wonderful patchwork type granny square blankets popping up everywhere in Blog Land. Of course I had to join in the fun and start my own!

Originally I had red and dark blue in the mix, but for some reason they just looked off.

So I swapped those out for grey and purple.

Very much out of my comfort zone! Aahhh!

This is the first blanket or crocheted piece of any kind really that doesn't have red, but I'm loving every bit of it!

Hooky Update

A lot of crocheting has been happening at Hopscotch Lane the past week and I have to selfishly say that it is all for me!

First I started a new blanket! This is probably the biggest thing I have crocheted to date, but it is absolutely flying off the hook. You can find the pattern here. It is in Swedish, but with a little basic knowledge of crochet and a lot of help from google translate it is manageable. This pattern is ingenious and sucks you right in from the get go. I cannot wait to see what stitch and color is going to be next. The picture shown is only two days of work on it. I cannot wait for it to be done so I can snuggle under it when it's cold and snowy

Next is a happy amigurumi bunny!

Finally, I have been working on a super secret Christmas project. Do you wanna see a sneak peak? Do ya?

The whole project will be revealed in September, it will include lots of pictures, new free patterns, and Christmas fun! Stay tuned!

Matching Crochet Blanket and Owl Pillow

I have been busily crocheting up a storm here at Hopscotch Lane. We have been having an unseasonably cool August so far. Yay!

Here is my newest set of crocheted goodness in my all time favorite colors.

A simple crochet granny square blanket with a fun colorful border.

And a fun owl pillow. This is a new design and I really love it. I have many color combinations in mind that I cannot wait to try. Possibly one in Halloween colors???

I have a little confession to make. I may have put up my Halloween/Autumn Lemax village last week. I got a huge order from my favorite online store and could not wait more than 2 days to take everything out of the box and put it all up. I am anxiously waiting until at least after Labor Day to show it off :)

More Yellow

It's been yellow kinda week. I don't know what it is, I just can't get enough of it. Usually I am all about red and pink, but yellow has been looping around my hook lately.

This is a super simple baby blanket. It's just a huge granny square, using my favorite granny square pattern. I did 20 rounds of 2 rows of color. Then I single crocheted all around the blanket with 3sc in each corner. The finished blanket measures about 22 inches square. Perfect for cuddling a baby!

Of course I had to make a matching owl using atergcrochet's amazing pattern!

Yellow and White Chevron Blanket

Hi all! Thank you so much for your well wishes for my new shop. Your support means so much to me!

I think I just found my new favorite pattern to crochet... chevron (or otherwise known as ripple). The royalsisters have a great pattern for the perfect design, not too pointy and not too wavy. I want one in every color of the rainbow :)

This one is made out of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in bright yellow and white using size H hook. I did not add a border as I though the edges are perfectly neat. It measures about 27 inches wide and 32 inches tall. So happy with how it turned out. It is my first ripple ever!

Summer Doily Blanket

Have you ever started a pattern that is just so addictive that you can't stop? This is one of them. I had every intention to take in progress pictures and do a wip post, but this little blanket worked up so fast that by the time I had the post all ready I was finished and was ready for the reveal post.

So here it is... my summer doily crochet blanket! What do you think? Very granny chic is it not? :)

The pattern is anya from goodknits. It is written very well and easy to follow. I highly recommend her patterns.

I decided I wanted a super colorful doily, I love traditional white doilies, but I really wanted to make it as modern as possible. I used Hobby Lobby's "I love this yarn" in a variety of colors. If you have never tried it, it is a wonderful acrylic. It is soft but it still feels sturdy and that it won't break at the slightest snag. You can't beat the price at $3.99 for 355 yards and many a times they have it on sale. I will definitely be using it again!

I'm thinking up next should be some smaller projects. I'm a little blanketed out for now (2 blankets in 18 days!Phew), but I love it!
