Puppy Embroidery Pillow

The stitching bug bit me the other day when I came across the cutest little vintage embroidery pattern. Not knowing what I would do with it I started stitching. It took me a couple hours and a few mistakes, but I finished it, then decided it needed something extra so I added a cute border.

I went back and forth between deciding whether it should be a pillow or a wall hanging. I finally decided on pillow after seeing it with pam kitty fabric. They were meant to be!

My mom over at Happy Little Cottage worked her sewing magic and made it into the cutest patchwork pillow.

I love it! It's happily sitting on my bed, the little dog reminds me of Sophie :)

Pink, Red, and Blue Pillows

I have been having so much fun lately working on new crochet pillow ideas in between work and my granny square blanket.

Here are the two newest in my probably my favorite colors ever: red, pink, and blue!

The striped pillow is Tanya Whelan "delilah" fabric with a fun red cotton crochet edging.

The smaller pillow is just a really large granny square made out of acrylic yarn.

Such fun and fast projects :)

Sophie's Got a Brand New Bed

I love taking old unloved things and making them new and I also love my dog Sophie. So this project was a combination of two things I really love.

This is how it started. An old suitcase from the thrift store ($3.00), a pillow, spray paint, and some fabric.

First I gutted the whole thing and gave it a good cleaning. Then I spray painted every nook and cranny with Krylon high gloss spray paint in "banner red".

Next came the fun part... accessorizing!

I covered an old pillow form with some blue floral delilah fabric. Crocheted up a mini granny bunting banner using Perle cotton size 5 and hung it at the top.

Sewed a new gingham pocket with lace edging for all of Sophie's toys (she has a lot).

Lastly, I painted a chipboard "S" white and added a cute crochet flower and leaves.

I think Sophie loves it :)

Embroidered Bunting

This is one of those projects I finished awhile ago but neglected to blog it. Which is madness because I am crazy in love with it!

The patterned fabric came from Charlotte Lyon's etsy shop. She is amazingly talented and her designs are the cutest! The fabric comes printed with the design so all you have to do is stitch, cut, and sew! How awesome is that?!

I used perle cotton and a lot of filler stitches so that the embroidery would not get lost.

This little banner probably gets moved around twice a week as I adore it and love moving it in different spots so that I can enjoy it everywhere.

New project bag

I had to show off my new project bag that my mom (happylittlecottage) sewed for me! I am a novice sewer and the thought of sewing a zipper brought back nightmarish memories of high school sewing class. So I asked my mom to make it for me with super specific details - I wanted it with a red zipper, red polka dot lining, and measure 14" square. The fabric is kokka fabric that I have been coveting forever and finally found it at SuperBuzzy. It's been in the stash for awhile destined to become pillow covers (or so I thought). This fabric is probably the cutest thing ever with dalas, matryoshkas, windmills, flowers, and hearts.

The bag is a nice big size! It fits about 5 skeins of yarn and a stack full of granny squares..

I'm in love with it. Thanks mom!
