Colorful Dining Room Chairs

I recently painted my dining room chairs in all happy colors. I had been wanting to do this for a while but was a little hesitatant because I was afraid it would look a little crazy and discombobulated. But I have to say I am so glad I did it! It adds the perfect pop of color to my all white dining room. I guess there really is no such thing as too much color.

Are you ready to see?

Tah dah! Isn't it so cheery? :)

All of  these chairs were painted white at one time and almost all of them came from different places. Two were ones we've had for your years and years, the other two came from the thrift store, and the last two my grandpa found on the side of the road and were an ugly forest green and black. You would never know that now!

To keep this project cost efficient I just used the little sample paints of behr premium plus that you can get for around $2 at Home Depot. So this instant room makeover only cost me about $10 and took an evening to paint all the chairs.

Did you know it has been officially one year since I moved into my new home? Wow how time has flown. I'm still planning, fussing and DIYing all the rooms in my house to my liking.

Sophie's Got a Brand New Bed

I love taking old unloved things and making them new and I also love my dog Sophie. So this project was a combination of two things I really love.

This is how it started. An old suitcase from the thrift store ($3.00), a pillow, spray paint, and some fabric.

First I gutted the whole thing and gave it a good cleaning. Then I spray painted every nook and cranny with Krylon high gloss spray paint in "banner red".

Next came the fun part... accessorizing!

I covered an old pillow form with some blue floral delilah fabric. Crocheted up a mini granny bunting banner using Perle cotton size 5 and hung it at the top.

Sewed a new gingham pocket with lace edging for all of Sophie's toys (she has a lot).

Lastly, I painted a chipboard "S" white and added a cute crochet flower and leaves.

I think Sophie loves it :)

Vintage fabric flower pot

My current obsession is vintage sheets and we have quite the collection going. I saw this tutorial on how to make fabric covered pots and I new I had to make one out of my favorite vintage sheet pattern. I really love the way it turned out, but if I were to make it again I would paint the pot white first and then add the fabric. The terracotta shows through the fabric a little and muddles the colors. To add a little more color I painted the tray a matching pink (you can never have too much pink!)

The little pot of hydrangeas are currently sitting on the porch steps.
