hello april

Hi everyone! Happy April (I know I'm a day late).

After having a terrible weekend I am so grateful that Mother Nature gave me a little glimpse of Spring yesterday. I got to wear flip flops, walk up to the craft store, spotted some spring flowers at Home Depot, and even Sophie loved not having to trudge through snow.

I am making some progress on a new ripple blanket that I will share soon :-)

Hope you all are having a fabulous start to April!

Patchwork Crochet Blanket

I started this patchwork blanket around this time last year and finally finished it up last week.

It's a big blanket, it fits nicely on my full size bed. The pattern is from the wonderful Dottie Angel, t is called the Ordinarily Extraordinary Blanket. You can find the awesome tutorial here.

I used mainly Red Heart acrylic yarn for this project. I have to admit something, when I first finished the blanket I really did not like the combination of colors. It was even too bright and colorful for me, but then I put in on my bed and the colors softened and now I am completely smitten with it! One of my favorite finished blankets to date!

And of course Sophie is a fan :)

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! Lots of love! xoxo

Red crochet granny square pillow

Remember my red Cath Kidston blanket? This pillow was inspired by it!

Love how it turned out! It is so cottagey. Is that a word? I crocheted this cutie out of 100% cotton and it has an adorable red polka dot backing.

It will be available in my shop tomorrow at 7pm eastern time. Now I'm off to make another one for me :)

New Pattern - Vintage Inspired Crochet Flower Potholder

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to introduce you to my newest pattern...  The Vintage Inspired Crochet Flower Potholder. I created it after being inspired by a gorgeous vintage red rose potholder that I own. It is so intricate and delicate made out of cotton crochet thread and a teeny tiny hook. I wanted to make something similar in style, but more modern by using worsted weight cotton. Here is what I came up with and I have to say I'm in love! They look perfect in my vintage inspired kitchen and are adorable grouped together on the wall as art. I hope you will love the pattern as much as I do! It is now available in my shop as an instant download. It's the perfect lazy Sunday project!

This week...

I've been doing a little crafting. Working on this hexagon blanket I started last Spring, added in 2 new colors: navy blue and red.

Working on another "Scandistitch" design. You can find my other finished ones here and here. I seem to have a little obsession with navy blue right now. Love it!

Taking down Christmas decorations. I'm usually sad afterwards, but I really am loving the clean simple look of my home now.

Sophie Sweater

Yesterday I was finally in the mood to crochet. I haven't felt like it since probably October. So I picked up a hook and my favorite color yarn and started playing.

This is what came out of the hour with my toes dipping in the crochet pool... a Sophie sweater!

I made the pattern up as I went and little Sophie was a trooper letting me try it on her every 5 minutes, and at one point putting clothespins on it to mark the leg holes :)

I couldn't have made it at a better time. We are having below zero temps right now here in Ohio. Bbbrrrrrr!

Sophie loves it and I have to say she looks adorable. Now I think it is safe to say I have now become a crazy dog lady.

I'm off to take down Christmas decorations. Boo! Then maybe sit down and start a new blanket. What are you up to this Wednesday?

Mandala

Last night was dark and rainy so what better to do than drink some Smirnoff ice and crochet a mandala!

The pattern is from issue 4 of Simply Crochet Magazine (my favorite mag by the way).

It looked so cute and  I was craving something simple, fast, and all for me. Originally I was going to be daring and make the petals in bright yellow, but I chickened out and used my favorite light blue. For those who are wondering the yarn is just leftover worsted weight acrylic.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Hexagons

After playing with some Red Heart Super Saver color combinations I started a new blanket this week!

It involves hexagons. My first ever blanket using hexagons and I am loving it! The pattern is from the book Crochet with Color available on Amazon.

You know what I'll be doing this weekend :) Hope you all have a fantastic first weekend of May!

Finished! Greengate Blanket

I'm on a roll with finishing projects lately! We won't talk about the one's I have started though :)

This one has to be my proudest finished projects. I can't believe I actually finished it. Way back in August when I started it, I said to myself why am I making this I'm never gonna finish it. But here you go in less than a year it is finally done and it's a whopper! It measures about 68 inches wide by 96 inches. Definitely the biggest thing I've ever crocheted and probably ever will. I am so in love with it and it fits so perfectly on my bed.

The pattern can be found here. It is in Swedish but with google translate and a little crochet knowledge its easy to figure out. Or to make it simple, it's just a series of straight double crochet rows and granny stripes, if you wanna make your own just mix them up.

Since we sadly can't get GreenGate products here in the US I dub this blanket my first ever GreenGate!

Hope you all have a fab weekend!

Happy Matryoshka!

Yesterday I had so much fun playing with Annaboo's House new pattern! A cute little matryoshka! I love Russian nesting dolls (it's probably all the Russian blood in me) they are just so happy and cute!

The pattern is super simple and clearly written out. The only changes I made was I stitched the hair and face onto the crochet piece for extra stability, tied a piece of ribbon around her neck for the bow, and added blush with a pink crayon. If anyone is curious the fabric is from Bonnie and Camille's Ruby ling. I'm already working on a few more, these will be so adorable on a Christmas tree!

She's currently happily living on the kitchen cabinet door!

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

Finished Spring Blanket!

It's all finished!

I had lots of fun working with these colors, can't believe I actually used brown!

If you are looking for the pattern Sharron at Annie's Place was awesome and wrote up the pattern here!

Of course Sophie loves it. Back fresh from the groomers with a new toy and a funny feather in her hair.

Thrifty Blanket

Look what I found!!!
I had to share with you the cutest blanket that I found at the thrift shop today.
I couldn't resist it! I always have a weak spot for anything crochet at the thrift stores or estate sales.

Perfect size for napping and cuddling. Sophie loves it of course! I'm amazed how much work went into this beauty! It's quite big (fits on my full size bed) and is great condition (no holes or pills).

Thank you all for the sweet comments and support on my last post. I can't tell you how much each one meant to me!

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter!
